Hello there, I wish you all had a wonderful christmas, with everything you needed and desired. And since we're almost in 2016, are there any new year's resolutions?
The best of 2015 (?)
It seems that, after all the rumours, turns out that the new army after 2016 is a release of starter sets from various factions either Age of Sigmar and 40K 's... Check these lists.
After some calculations (I´ve only tested for Tau Empire and Slaves to Darkness, aka WoC) and I´ve to say the prices seem great: For the warriors of chaos box for 85 USD, about £57, you get £74 worth in miniatures but is it better than the old battalion box? Well, In my case I already have a box of marauders (from a trade with a friend) and I really don't like the warhounds models (I have another model in mind to replace them...), on the other hand I don't have a sorcerer neither a chariot, so I think I'l stick with the new box...
In the case of the Tau Empire box the difference between rates is even greater: £93 of stuff, considering the ethereal's price around £18, in a box of £57! I reckon that (at least) one of them is going to be my christmas gift to myself....
But not with this squig.... I hope
Thank you for your time and wishing you all happy holidays and a new year full of positive achievements.
I wish you all happy holidays and a year 2016 full of positive achievements.
With greetings of peace and prosperity, I’m wishing the very best for all of you during this special time. May you enjoy all the best now and throughout the coming year.
Sprayed with some Skull White and Retributor Armour ....
Thank you for your time and until the next publication...
I know that I've been quite silent lately, but this time I'm back! After three weeks of Age of Sigmar stuff I was wondering what little piece of 40k was comming this weekend and it turns out its still focused in the recent bord games and... in Daemons!
Trench warfare against daemons... why not?
GW Daemons are attacking Calth & The Assassinorum Execution Force – Check these out!
Looks like Daemons are on the rise for Games Workshop’s Board Games Betrayal at Calth and Execution Force. In this weeks White Dwarf new rules are dropping for playing Daemons in both games and here are the pics to prove it!
Next week's WD...
It’s quite cool to see the board game sides of things getting some attention. Can we hope for some more unique scenarios for Betrayal at Calth and Execution Force in the future? And what about Space Hulk? One can only hope... As for all you Heresy Era players out there, with Chaos demons running amok in the Calth Board Game, any chance you’ll want to face them on the table in some awesome 30k Legion vs Chaos Daemon action?
And what's about with this new 32mm (round) bases fetish?! They are everywhere! Why do daemons need them?
“Archaon is the greatest champion of Chaos, the Exalted Grand Marshal of the Apocalypse. At his hand, the world-that-was faced annihilation and the Mortal Realms were subjugated.
Now, as the storm of Sigmar sweeps the realms, Archaon prepares to destroy the God-King.”
One question: What the heck has Archaon been feeding his “horse”?
Spoken of in fearful whispers by warlords and kings, Archaon is the shadow of Chaos falling upon the Mortal Realms. Greatest of the Dark Gods’ champions, the Exalted Grand Marshal of the Apocalypse, he is the Everchosen – the doom of all. Uniting the armies of Chaos with his fist of iron, wielding the legendary daemon sword the Slayer of Kings and mounted upon the terrifying, three-headed beast Dorghar, he rides out to meet the forces of Order that seek to loosen the grip of Chaos. Archaon – the Three-Eyed King, the World Razor, the Thirsting Predator – will see to it that Sigmar’s heroes fail in their quest, and that the united hosts of Chaos will unmake the Mortal Realms in their terrible, howling glory.
This kit contains all the components necessary to make one absolutely staggering, enormous, intimidating Archaon, the Everchosen. Covered in the gifts of the Dark Gods, he bears the Armour of Morkar, featuring numerous Chaos markings, inscribed with runes of warding and malice. His shield displays the symbols of the Dark Gods, and he clutches the Slayer of Kings. His vast winged mount, Dorghar, has undergone countless horrific mutations as he consumed souls from the carcasses of Archaon’s bested foes – huge wings, the faces of unfortunate Stormcast Eternals whose souls he has consumed embedded within his skin, three daemonic heads and twin tails.
In total 85 components are included, with a gigantic Citadel 160mm Round base.
Size comparison against an Bloodreaver...
The pose and the height achieved in having the mount in an almost vertical position with it’s tail holding up it’s mass is impressive. It gives the physically small Archaon a towering height that showcases both his importance and command of the forces of chaos. This looks like a General that can face down something like Nagash, or boss around the Glottkin without looking just silly – something his old “horse” based model could never dream of pulling off. Heck, Archaon’s model makes the Celestant-Prime look like a pipsqueak!
The details across it are well done, the Khorne, Nurgle, and Tzeentch heads in particular – and even Slaanesh makes a subtle appearance on Archaon’s shield, but no beast/daemon head... or does the lashing tails count as Slaanesh?
If two heads are better than one, what about three?
In short: The Everchosen is big, he’s impressive, and he and his mount provide a Chaos army a fantastic centerpiece model to look good on the tabletop – equal to any other that GW has put out for other factions.
The model is the very essence of the top-tier quality showcase pieces that GW is able to pull off these days. It’s not going to be easily customizable, and you would have a hard time using it for other games...But how will you paint this incredible new model…?
Well never fear, because Duncan Rhodes, "Grand Marshal of Painting Tips", is here to guide you to victory with his latest painting video. At 90 minutes long, this is the most comprehensive painting video we've ever made, including handy bookmarks in the description to help you find the part of the model you're currently working on. Enjoy!
And, yet to come: Varanguard, the Knights of Ruin and Battletome Archaon!
Are the decals for the banners?!
Battletome Everchosen rides into battle – and this time they have the Varanguard, a new "elite" of Chaos Knights, leading the charge! Chaos is fighting back against the Stormcast Eternals’ tide of war! Archaon is getting some new reinforcements to ride with him into glorious battle… here comes the CHAOS!
Here’s what we know about the Battletome Archaon (£35): 120 page hardcover, includes an exclusive decal sheet, covers the entire history of Archaon in the Age of Sigmar, full rules for using him, his Varanguard and chaos forces.
Avarage price for a battletome, just like for example the Stormcast Eternals and the Khorne Bloodbound... but I wonder what other chaos forces are they mentioning... is this the new designation for Warriors of Chaos??
So much dread, spikes and... options of course...
The Varanguard Knights of Ruin... 3 Everchosen Varanguard on large oval cavalry bases. Models come with many weapon options, and Warscroll in box.
The models look great, the weapons and rules also, but £60 for 3 guys ??? I'm not sure...
And finally the WD's end teaser:
I guess ee’ll find out this weekend… and to finish, a picture of, from what I´ve heard, are the new Duardin or "Fire Slayers" for 2016 ...
“This sprue was shown on the warhammer subreddit on reddit.com. Looks to be a slayer, or possibly even a chaos dwarf slayer, but also seems like it could be an ironsmith or forgefather of some sort. Wielding an axe in one hand, and a staff in the other, with a metal mask, and the iconic slayer mowhak. The sprue date is 2016. It was reported that this came in a box of Tau.”
Thank you for your time and until the next publication
This is just in, it apears that we shall have a new (40k) army...
Behold brothers... more Astartes!
As I've said before, usually I don't care much to rumors in the warhammer universe, except when they come accompanied with images that seem minimally legitimate, which doesn't seem to be the case today ... on the other hand they've made me quite excited about it. Here's what I have so far:
You won’t believe what new faction is coming in 2016 Grimdark fans. Come on in for details:
A source who spoke to BoLS on condition of anonymity, says:
Look for the Deathwatch to arrive in the Grimdark in 2016.
They will make their initial appearance in a boxed boardgame like Execution Force / Betrayal at Calth.
The Deathwatch models are based around a new Deathwatch upgrade sprue.
The sprue will contain items such the distinctive shoulderpads, and specialist equipment and weapons of the Deathwatch.
The Deathwatch sprue will be bundled atop the Sternguard base kit in the boardgame.
The game will allow for you to equip your Killteam’s weapons and equipment in a variety of ways with rules to support them all.
As with Betrayal at Calth – these are standard 40K models fully usable outside the boardgame.
There will be an opposing force the Deathwatch is pitted against with their own models in the box.
More as we get it. You can see the pattern forming of 2 of these types of things a year as GW begins to hammer down their winning formula for these boxed games. There is no date listed for this new boxed game, bit I wold expect sooner than later. In 2015, the two boxed games arrived:
Execution Force: April 25th
Betrayal at Calth: November 7th
I can imagine already that a lot of folks will wish for a genestealer cult to be the opposing force, and to be fair a lot of fans deserve it... although the reaction of most will be something like: "NEW ARMY 2016!!!!!! ...Oh Space Marines ..."
I need to confess that I have some mixed feelings here: On the one hand I've allways wanted a good plastic sprue to built a Deathwatch force, and even an army ... but on the other hand I've to admit that it's going to be (yet) another Astartes release...In the end it doesn't feel like a NEW army at all... a new army should be something like:
Eldar Exodites;
Nurgle/Slaanesh/Tzeentch Daemonkin;
Daemonhunters/Witch Hunters or just Inquisition as a whole ...
What's your opinion? Who's the opposing force?
Who knows ...
Thank you for your time and until the next publication
This weekend sees two new miniatures go on pre-order, plus five that were previously only available in boxed games. There is also War Zone Damocles: Mont'ka, two huge scenery sets, new Datacards for the Farsight Enclaves and Cadian Shock Troops and a new short story compilation from Black Library focusing on the Astra Militarum. Phew!
I wasn't kidding with the "Lands" word...
The first of the two new miniatures is the Blood Angels Chaplain with Jump Pack, which comes out alongside the Blood Angels Captain in Terminator Armour (previously only available in the Deathstorm boxed game). The second new miniature is a new plastic Tech-Priest Enginseer, which comes in a box along with a Leman Russ Battle Tank – the Leman Russ Tech-Command set. The box also includes a Squadron Command Frame, a handy upgrade sprue that includes a radar dish and aerial for Imperial Guard tanks, plus upgrades for Eldar, Tau, Space Marine and Chaos Space Marine vehicles.
What used to be just one thin book is now 2!
The war in the Damocles Gulf also continues this week with Mont'ka, the second two-book set in the Damocles series. Following on from the events that took place in Kauyon, Mont'ka sees Commander Shadowsun return to Agrellan as the forces of the Imperium prepare to reclaim their lost world. The first book contains the story of the war on Agrellan, along with some exceptional artwork, while the second book includes all the rules and scenarios.
Farsight Lives!
The Farsight Enclaves return in the Mont’ka campaign. Come see the new rules for Farsight’s suits, and their formation:
Battlesuit Spearhead: In a Farsight Enclaves Detachment or Formations, XV8 Crisis Battlesuits are troops choices instead of Elites choices.
Talisman of Arthas Moloch: The Talisman of Arthas Moloch confers 5+ inv. save. In addition, the bearer and all firendly units within 12'' add 2 to their Deny the Witch rolls. (It’s sounds a LOT like a Collar of Khorne doesn’t it?)
Warscaper Drone: Nominate a Drone purchased by the character from the Drones list - this is a Warscaper Drone in addition to its usual type. All models in the same unit as the Warscaper Drone have the Move Through Cover, Outflank and Acute Senses special rules. Furthermore, any enemy unit that is both outside of its deployment zone and within 12'' of a Warscaper Drone treats difficult terrain as dangerous terrain. (Scouts and Infiltrators Beware!)
Pictures are already out in the wild and the Tau have some new BRUTAL Formations to run – check this out!
That Riptide formations looks Mean! I guess they got jealous of the Stormsurge’s double tap and wanted to get in on that action as well... and the Warscaper Drone is the king of dirty tricks! Look for all suits all the time with Farsight Enclaves armies.
While the details are up in the air, at least we can make out the title of the formation as “The Eight” and it looks a lot like the one from the Farsight Enclave book.
What made this formation special was that all 8 members were Unique Special Characters and as such each character had the Independent Character special rule. They also had access to duplicate Signature Systems and the limit on those systems did not apply to this unit – another neat trick they had! I guess we will have to wait to see how much of that carries over into the updated version – but based on the codex release, I’m guessing quite a bit! But here's something for now...
Commander Farsight (Crisis Suit with plasma rifle, shield generator and Dawn Blade)
Sub-Commander Torchstar (Crisis Suit with dual Flamers)
Commander Sha’vastos (Crisis Suit with a Plasma Rifle and a Flamer)
Commander Brightsword (Crisis Suit with two Fusion Blades in their twin-linked Fusion Blasters)
Commander Bravestorm (Crisis Suit with Iridium Armor, a Plasma Rifle, a Flamer and teh Onager Gauntlet)
Commander Arra’kon (Enforcer Battlesuit with a Plasma Rifle, an Airbursting Fragmentation Projector and a Cyclic Ion Blaster)
Shas’vre Ob’lotai 9-0 (Broadside Battlesuit with twin-linked Smart Missile Systems, twin-linked High-Yield Missile Pods and a Seeker Missile) [“He” is an A.I.]
Honor-Shas’vre O’Vesa (Riptide Battlesuit with Earth Caste Piloting Array, Ion Accelerator and twin-linked Fusion Blasters)
They all come with some drones, too. Iirc their stats are’nt all “Commander Stats” even though they’re called that. So no BS5 across the board, unless I remember that wrong or they changed it.
Edit. I forgot! They also come with some of the campiest names ever, even for 40k…
From what I can decipher they at least get Independent Character*, Fearless and Prefered Enemy from the Formation, further buffing any units they’re joining. Unless these words are something similar in silhouette and length. There’s two more paragraphs but I can’t decipher them without my head hurting…
* seeing that this is likely “Independent Character” I’d guess there is NO further Farsight Enclaves update coming and this is their way to make The Eight still playable while the old Farsight Enclaves Supplement will be invalidated. It’s easy, really. Create a formation with the restrictions being a certain loadout, give all the suits the special rule for ICs and make them a choice of 0-1… Bam, done.
Looks like some solid releases coming out way for Black Friday weekend. Checkout a ton more White Dwarf issue 95 pictures below as well! Thank you for your time and until the next publication
Have you seen the play-through video for The Horus Heresy: Betrayal at Calth yet? You haven't? Then you need to watch this now...
Watch as Chris and his noble Ultramarines clash with Amy's treacherous Word Bearers, in 'The Wrath of Veridia; the first scenario of this new and exciting game The Horus Heresy: Betrayal at Calth.
Thank you for your time and until the next publication
It's here, it's official, our new boxed game – The Horus Heresy: Betrayal at Calth – is available to pre-order now! As you'd expect, this is huge news and today's post is going to be suitably massive as a result. Read on to find out more about this new boxed game and the miniatures inside it.
Get in the game!
Inside the box you'll find 38 brand new plastic Citadel Miniatures, including a Captain, a Chaplain, a Contemptor Dreadnought, five Legion Terminators and 30 (yes, 30!) Legion Space Marines clad in Mk. IV power armour. Add to that four double-sided hex-grid board tiles, an assembly guide, a rulebook, gaming tokens and command cards, a transfer sheet and 12 unique dice and you've got one very impressive boxed game.
Look at those (funky) dice... and markers!
The war for Calth is fought in the cramped confines of the world's underground arcologies, which are represented by the four board tiles. Each of the six missions in the game features a different tile arrangement, making each battle a new and exciting challenge.
Moar, we want MOAR!
The Space Marines in the box are all multi-part plastic kits that are fully compatible with other Space Marine models and Forge World resin kits. They come with an impressive arsenal of weapons and wargear to choose from, too, giving you loads of modelling options (more on that next week). In the meanwhile Forgeworld has released their own bundles such as the Ultramarines Task Force (image above) and the Legion Devastation Force... check their releases here!
Even the book looks like those from Forgeworld series...
The 48-page book that comes in the box is a brilliant introduction to the Horus Heresy, setting the scene for the war on Calth and introducing the main protagonists – Captain Aethon of the Ultramarines and Chaplain Kurtha Sedd of the Word Bearers. In White Dwarf 93, out now, we play through Wrath of Veridia, the first mission presented in the box. If you're after an insight into how the game works, make sure you pick up a copy today. Remember, every Games Workshop and Warhammer store, plus many larger independent stockists, have a copy of The Horus Heresy: Betrayal at Calth in store now for you to look at, touch and marvel over. If you're lucky, you might even get to play a game of it. Pay them a visit today to see what it's all about.
The promo video...
Excited? Still want more? Also available to pre-order today are two Horus Heresy novels – The Honoured and The Unburdened – which follow the stories of Captain Steloc Aethon and Chaplain Kurtha Sedd, the two commanders in Betrayal at Calth. They're great stand-alone novels and excellent introductions to the madness, destruction and desperation of the Horus Heresy, though they also tie in nicely with existing novels such as Know No Fear. There's even a special edition available from the Black Library website that includes both books, though if previous special editions are anything to go by it's bound to sell out fast, so make sure you order it now.
Meanwhile, something has come up recently, a new model for Archaon... the New Archaon on Dorghar!
Khorne, Tzeentch e Nurgle heads ... No Slannesh !!!
Thank you for your time and until the next publication

In Paint Splatter it's show how to paint the miniatures in the box, a handy four-page guide on painting Ultramarines and Word Bearers;

Check these boxed deals out for the Ad Mech!
And, as if 30k marines wasn't enough for one week, and also as if there weren't enough marines boxed sets, here's more Space Marines!
More spess mehreens, just for you!
Okay – now for the important part. The prices leaked too:
TotaL: £112 seperated sets vs the box cost of £90 (saved £22)
Space Marines Battle Demi Company (42 miniatures):
1 Space Marine Commander (Old Model) £14
1 Space Marine Dreadnought £28
1 Space Marine Devastator Squad £28
1 Space Marine Assault Squad £25
3 Space Marine Tactical Squad £75 (3x£25)
TotaL: £170 seperated sets vs the box cost of £135 (saved £35)
A great oppurtunity for those who whant to star a new army or just add more models to their own collections... unless you find cheaper options out there of course!
And finally: Imperial assassins and more Tau are coming! You heard that right! Ever since Execution Force came out last April, there has been talk of the 4 plastic Assassins making thier way to the tabletop in individual clampack form. Here’s the latest doing the rounds on that:
And of course you can’t have assassins without a worthy target – like say… Commander Farsight! A second Warzone book for Damocles is coming titled: Mont’ka – looking like it’s focussed on the Imperium’s hunt for Commander Farsight.
It's time for an update of what I've been doing, but first I want to share with you something...
Gw has recently launch a new Competition: a Gift List Promotion where you could win one of the 10 £100 virtual gift vouchers to be won! For more information check the Terms and Conditions. Taking advantage of this chance will try my luck with a project that I had in mind since the Stormsurge first appeared: the Stormsurge on the Aquila! The next images Will give you an idea...
I know that it's not very proportional , but it is a draft only...
The idea is quite simple. It's basically a KV128 Stormsurge walking on the rubble of a Aquila from the Honoured Imperium set, as a symbol of the young and triumphant Tau Empire over a decaying and crumbling Imperium of Man...
So I will share my list, as required in the rules of the contest, hoping to be one of 10 lucky ones ... he who doesn't try does not win for sure, right?!
But if you wish offer me this material be my guest...
Meanwhile, a little show of what I've been doing:
Working with fun foam is... well, fun!
In one of my previous posts (here) I shared with you an photo of a purchased Infiltration Cadre Burning Dawn and I've started with the Pathfinders and those will be their bases, once finished... you can see the progress so far in this next picture.
Little by little...
But I've also been doing some painting! Just a paint test of the new Vior'la theme, not finished yet but I'm not sure about this red and yes I know, I exaggerated with the weathering... I'll try a second one with a lighter red base.
Soon ready for battle!
Before I end, a little peep in what's to come soon...
Adeptus Mechanicus and Marines packs ahead!
Thank you for your time and until the next publication.
